Is You Thirsty? B*tch I Might Be!

Friday night as I was enjoying myself in a popular New Orleans club located in the French Quarter I encountered the worst amount of fuckery in quite awhile.

I was drugged...

He he...ha ha...yes we all watched "The Hangover" and laughed hysterically when we found out the boys were all slipped the "date rape" drug that led them on their interesting adventure through Las Vegas.

My experience was nothing like this. One moment I was talking amongst friends in the DJ booth, the next minute a cute young man is offering to buy me a drink. I quickly gulped down my remaining drink and proceeded to the bar with him. Almost immediately after the drink was halfway gone I felt dizzy.

My close friends and associates know for a fact that I can DRINK. So there is no way I should've been feeling as inibrated as I was feeling. I went to the bathroom, and told myself I have to walk these 8 blocks to my job no matter what happens.

I don't remember the walk or getting to my job I just remember waking up in the hospital with 2 IV's in me, a cathader and sticky things all on my chest and stomach being told I was drugged with one of my coworkers near my bedside on the verge of tears.

Ladies be more careful, Im usually very cautious of things when I go out but it seems they are getting better at what they do. If you're out and you think you've been drugged DO NOT DRINK WATER, IMMEDIATLY TRY TO THROW UP so you dont further ingest any more of the drug.

My doctor said thats what really saved me was me making myself throw up. It could've been much worse.

I'm not writing this blog to try to gain sympathy I'm writing it as a wake up call to all women out there who frequent bars, and nightclubs. There are predators EVERYWHERE.

Shout out to thirsty men that feel they can't get ZERO action without resorting to crap like this. You still didn't get it....

The fuSHion Magazine drops Vol. 3 Issue 3 Featuring Trae

Probably the most anticipated issue of the summer was released today featuring Houston artist Trae The Truth. Why so anticipated you ask? Well if you live anywhere in the south you know about the radio ban being done by 97.9 The Boxx in Houston, Texas of ALL Trae's music.

Sounds ridiculous huh? Same thing I thought but its reality. Radio DJ's and personalities are actually being fired behind the ban. Read more about it by clicking the link to see the issue online. Click Here

If you want to purchase copies of the magazine in print Click Here

DJ Brandi Garcia speaks on her getting fired.

We Forgive You Chris

FINALLY...Chris gets to pay his idol homage. Chris Brown finally got to perform during the BET awards (aka the most coonish show on earth) today after being blackballed within the industry since that little altercation with Rihanna last year.

I actually sat and screamed at my TV as the smoke cleared and the 21 year old R&B singer began to imitate the late Micheal Jackson's famous dance moves. He even become choked up while attempting to perform "Man In the Mirror" By then I too was in tears watching the powerful performance. I feel that in a way Chris sort of felt Micheal's pain of being ostracized.

I took a look at my Twitter and saw the same doubters that basically trashed Chris for months now praising him. How about you phony mofo's have a seat. I like to call you all "fair weather fans" out, but I'm not. Instead I'm going to point out the fact that Jay-Z and wife Beyonce were nowhere to be found. Rumor has it, Jay was the one who stopped Chris from doing a PROPER tribute last year. Well take that Jay. I'm sure you're somewhere in your thong sandals with a sour look upon your Joe Camel face. It'll be OK.

One thing I wonder...why didnt Chris perform "Beat It"? teehee

#DeathTo Photoshop

As I get my daily dose of fuckery from Media Take Out I peep an evil headline pertaining to video model Bria Myles. Yeah that ass fat but what it look like with out all that smoothing. I clicked the link and giggled to myself. Because I remember seeing a certain "model" on the regular...IN PERSON, and she looks NOTHING like her pics body wise...maybe y'all know her. We got the same first name. Tehee...let me not start that up again.

But seriously as I scroll down my time line while on Twitter all I see is retweets with icons of girls with their asses facing the camera. Nothing wrong with that because I like to see booty just like everyone else. But bitch...when I click on your icon it SHOULD NOT look like a damn cartoon character from all the smoothing and reshaping they had to do on your cellulite filled ass. If you cant get your ass in the gym and fix these problems then guess what, hop your ass from in front that camera.

Now...where are my Chips Ahoy?

Power 102.9's Benefit Concert at House Of Blues

Another night for me at the House of Blues...they're starting to know me on a first name basis. I honestly dont know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. The concert was basically held for donations towards St. Benard Parish by one of New Orleans popular radio stations Power 102.9 and the Power Posse'.

My new favorite R&B artist Kourtney Heart and her DJ Raj Smoove took the stage first doing her own renditions of Alicia Keys and Rihanna, one of her newest singles and her most popular one "My Boy" featuring Magnolia Shorty.

But of course...you all know I LOVE my fellow black folks, but why is it that we can NEVER be on time. While waiting for Cali Swag District, Curren$y, J Cole, and Juvenile to show up DJ Chicken, DJ Apple, DJ Dirty Red, Mike Swift, Downtown Leslie Brown, Big Abe, Big Herc and the rest of the Power 102.9 staff kept the crowd jumping and fist pumping along with Skip.

Finally Cali Swag District got there and everyone started doing their "Dougie". Not gonna lie but they were jamming. The even demonstrated those famous boogie moves. Clearly someone's been taking notes from Dallas.

Then Mr "Jet Life" himself Curren$y graced our presence. You know he had to roll up before he hit the stage.

This next artist hit the stage and I actually got a little star struck. Yes ladies and gents, J Cole came on. If this dud isn't the coldest new rapper. Its a reason that Jay-Z got him under his wing. I literally saw fans mouthing his lyrics word for word. When "Who Dat" came on the noise level was insane. Stop the Drake conparisons...dude is killing "Wheel Chair Jimmy" lyically.

Unfortunately the last artist I didn't really get to get any pictures of his performance. Juvenile, shout out to your ignorant ass entourage that mad it impossible for people to do their jobs. You being from New Orleans know that the backstage and side stage area of the House of Blues isn't that large, so really? I listened from the green room though and of course he brought it back with his Cash Money days and performed his new single "Drop That".

Once again I enjoyed myself. Big thank you to House of Blues New Orleans, Power 102.9, the Definition DJ's and all the artists that performed.

But my black people...lets try to be on time next go around...

Talib Kweli performs at House of Blues NOLA

I had a great night Tuesday. I was invited to see Talib Kweli at the House of Blues. Honestly I'm not going to even lie to you all and say that he's a rapper that I tend to jam. After that night my mind has changed. I LOVED IT! Maybe its just the east coast "swag" (yes I hate that word also), or maybe its his wordplay. Dude has got it going on. He even did a short tribute to Guru of Gangstarr.

My only complaint is that Mos Def was NOWHERE to be found, when Talib starting rapping hits from their Black Star days. I mean, come one Mos...you live in New Orleans...whats the deal? All in all, I've now downloaded the majority of Talib's music, and I've started to follow his Twitter. He's found a fan in me, hopefully he doesn't mess it up with stupid rants on Twitter like some artists do.

fuSHion Magazine Gets Some Video Shine

fuSHion Magazine along with our CEO Mz fuSHion herself got a cameo in the video for "Google Me, Im Famous" by Eight Set feat Gudda Gudda. Of course our favorite video director shot this. Duh...who else you expect?

West Coast Diamond

If you know me, you know I LOVE a hot female lyricist. Looks like next up we got Black Wall Streets Kanary Diamonds repping for the females and the West. I'm not even going to lie, I'm critical as all get out when it comes to ANY rapper, but she got something hot. As far as the comparisons to Nicki Minaj...kill that. F*ck a Barbie, Miss Kanary isn't about all the glitz and glamour. Just hot bars, and a hot look.

Yeah she has model looks but as soon as she starts spittin all you do is feel her. Me being from the South Im rarely introduced to West Coast music, but she got me added to her already estblished fan base. This is one female rapper I'm ready to see blow. Keep ya eyes on this one ladies and gentlemen...

You 100 in my book mama...

Lil B Gets the Dog Sh*t Punched Out Of Him

Rapper Lil B, formally of the group "The Pack" recently got knocked into next Tuesday during an interview. Seems like it was set up to me. Why didn't anyone in the room stop the madness after the first few hits? Have a looksie for yourself.

Looks kinda suspecious huh? Why didn't his supposed "homies" whoop this fools a**?
Lil B did a response video shortly after....with a busted lip nonetheless. Artists beware with these interviews. It looks like everyone wants to get fame some way.

But if this negro says "Ya feel me" one more time...

And B, honey come on. "Class" you have tattoos and gold teeth. Should you really be speaking on class?

A messege to my "bitter" sistas...

Ocho Cinco also had a run in with the "Angry Black Female" last week. I weighed in on that issue also. Duh...you know I had to.

Rapper Slim Thug Pisses off "SOME" Black women...

Yes...looks like we're back on this debate again.

Once again it seems my fellow "sista's" are outraged about a seemingly joking blog that was done by Slim Thug for a Vibe Magazine.

Question...ladies raise your hand proudly if this is your man. Dont worry...I'll wait.

Still waiting...

No? Nobody? Oh ok, thats what I thought. So why on earth would something a man says as a GENERAL statement offend you?
"Most single Black women feel like they don’t want to settle for less. Their standards are too high right now. They have to understand that successful Black men are kind of extinct. We’re important. It’s hard to find us so Black women have to bow down and let it be known that they gotta start working hard; they gotta start cooking and being down for they man more. They can’t just be running around with their head up in the air and passing all of us."

Honestly if anyone should be mad at what Slim said it should be white women. He basically potrayed them as doormats.
"My girl is Black and White. I guess the half White in her is where she still cooks and do all the shit that I say, so we make it. She just takes care of me and I like that. She don’t be begging and I don’t gotta buy her all this crazy ass shit. And she’s a smart girl too."

Honestly I feel like if you got mad at ANY of these statements being made it applies to you. I AM A BLACK WOMAN...and for some odd reason, this didnt make me shake with anger when I read it. You want to know why? Because its the T.R.U.T.H.

Majority of the ones becoming upset dont even listen to Slim's work. Im not understanding the reason of becoming so worked up.

It got so much exposure that Professor Marc Lamont Hill, and rapper Talib Kweli weighed in on the whole issue.

The letter to Slim was posted on the professor's blog stating...
“Even more disturbing was your comment that “Black women gotta start being down for their man more.” Since slavery, Black women have had to withstand rape, torture, and humiliation (from both white and Black men) in order to sustain their families. Now, in 2010, 1 in 3 Black men between 20 and 29 years old are incarcerated or otherwise under criminal supervision. Every day, Black women are raising children without men in the house, working multiple jobs (for less pay!), and supporting brothers as they finish their prison bids.

With Black male unemployment as high as 50 percent in some cities, sisters are often holding down households without child support or other financial assistance. Black female incarceration rates are skyrocketing, partly because Black women are “riding” for their men, hiding guns and drugs, operating as mules, and refusing to snitch to authorities.

In addition, Black women are the group most likely to be victims of domestic violence and the least likely to be married. Still, in spite of all this bad news, Black women are less likely to date outside their race than Black men.

How much more “down” do you want Black women to be?”

The professor makes a valid point...but still and all, why a pointless comment more important then daily worldwide pains?

By the way...there's an oil spill in the gulf people....

32nd Industry Influence in New Orleans

Its that time again. My favorite radio personality Wild Wayne had another informative Industry Influence last night. With performances by Louisiana Cash "Mr Walk Wit A Dip", Houston's own Killa Kyleon, and local artists Kourtney Heart, Britney, Nuthin But Fire Boys, 7th Ward Shorty, and Aqua Force it was quite an entertaining night.

DJ E.F. Cuttin was the usual fire DJ that he is, while they had a panel of internet bloggers, writers and contributers. Speaking words of wisdom to hopeful artists trying to break through into the market via web, and explaining the correct forms on how to do so.

*DJ E.F. Cuttin on the 1's and 2's

Of course Wild Wayne along with Sess 4-5 opened the floor for discussion, so artists, managers, and publicists could ask the panel. Alot of questions were asked, some relevent, and some a tad bit pointless. Word of advice artists, when you're supposed to be asking a PANEL questions, DO NOT under any circumstances start singing or rapping trying to promote yourself. You never know who is in these Industry Influence's. You could have just ruined your chance before it was even given to you.

Performance for more well known local artists came next. I must say myself I was VERY excited to see up and coming R&B artist Kourtney Heart. Her new single "My Boy" featuring Magnolia Shorty is gaining momentum down here, and its good to finally see something other then just a hot flow.

Then came the contest they do for a cash prize $1000. Foutunatly Wayne asked me to sit on the judging panel to rep fuShion Mag. I was honored and quickly jumped at the chance to speak my opinion on what might be a big name artist one day. The performances were done and the grand prize winner was a talented rapper by the name of Big Body. He chose the correct single, had the best stage presence, and got the crowd to rock with him.
